Under the aegis of the Prorettorato alla Cultura of the University of the Adriatic «G. d’Annunzio» Chieti / Pescara was formed the official pop music group of the University, the «Ud’A Band.
The Ud’A Band project aims to realize the concept-concert formula with historical-cultural aims, the first of which, Sulle ali del rhythm’n’blues — Music and youthful thought 1961-1967, will be presented in preview at the Campus-X of Chieti Tuesday, December 11 at 16.00
Through a series of classical pieces of the years that preceded the ’68, accompanied by images and interventions recited by Maria Adele D’Amaro, the concept-concert will re-evoke the atmosphere of an era in which a new youthful conscience is realized in harmony with new musical ferments. It is the moment of maturation of the blues roots innervated in the new sounds and rhythmic dimensions of the ‘beat’ evolution of the rock’n’roll of the Fifties.
The program includes songs by the queen of soul Aretha Franklin (Think, Respect, A Natural Woman, I Say a Little Prayer), Ben E. King (Stand by Me), Rolling Stones (Gimme Shelter), Marvin Gaye (Is not no Mountain) High Enough), Beatles (Come Together), Spencer Davis Group (Gimme Some Lovin ‘), Dusty Springfield (Son of A Preacher Man).
